Splatterhouse & Double Dungeons coming to Virtual Console!

That's right. Hudson has officially added Splatterhouse and Double Dungeons to the March release list of Virtual Console titles. While Double Dungeons is a fair title, Splatterhouse is on my Top 10 Most Wanted TG16 Games list. So here's a yippee from me!

PC Engine Turns 20 This Year!

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the PC Engine system. The PC Engine was released on October 30, 1987 in Japan and went on to become one of the best-selling game consoles in the history of the country. Not too shabby considering it was the newcomer going up against the big boys, Sega and Nintendo. Since it's been 20 years, I thought it would be nice to share the story of how I first was introduced to the little PC Engine and how it quickly became one of my all-time favorite game systems. Virtual-Turbo web site now open!

With the popularity of the Virtual Console on the Wii, not to mention that the Turbografx-16 games have been so well-received, I decided to create a web site just for Turbografx-16 games that are released on the Wii's Virtual Console. I'm trying to get all the current reviews done, and I should have all of them done in about a week. I'll be adding new reviews every day. Click on the logo to visit the site. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Neutopia Coming to Wii Virtual Console

I've been waiting on Neutopia to make its Virtual Console debut since I found out the Wii's Virtual Console was going to support Turbografx-16 games and it seems that's about to become a reality with the announcement that Neutopia had received an "E" rating from the ESRB meaning it's all clear to make its appearance soon. Many people call Neutopia a Zelda rip-off, but it's actually a fantastic game in itself. While it does share more than a few similarities with the original Zelda NES game, there's enough great storyline and gameplay in the game to make it worthy of a play. I'll post a full review of the game in the next couple of days.

The REAL reason Dracula X Chronicles is coming to PSP!

So why is Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles coming to the Sony PSP instead of the DS. It's really simple. God's a PSP fanboy. I was talking to God last weekend and I found him chuckling to himself as I approached him. I asked him what he thought was so funny and he just turned to me with this ear to ear grin on his face. "I'm going to seriously mess with the DS fanboys this coming week," he said to me with yet another steady chuckle. I kept at him trying to get him to tell me what his plan was, and I guess he finally got enough because I heard it thunder off in the distance and knew I was pushing too hard.

I guess he felt sorry for me and knew how curious I was. He leaned over and whispered his plan to me. "I'm having Konami completely update the most coveted of the Castlevania games, the PC Engine version of Rondo of Blood, and I've also decided to have them throw in the original Rondo of Blood as well as a widescreen version of Symhony of the Night as well. But here's the clincher. I'm having them release it on the PSP!!" With that he couldn't hold back anymore and he just laughed so hard the room shook. "That will teach those whiny-assed DS fanboys to diss the PSP," he shouted with the authority only God knows how to convey. I scolded God and reminded him that his New Year's Resolution was to be less of a PSP fanboy, but it didn't faze him. He seemed hell-bent (sorry for the expression) on sticking it to the DS faithful this time. "And if that doesn't break the DS fanboy spirit, I'll have Nintendo release a few sequels to Yoshi's Touch & Go!," God said as I was leaving to room.

PSP Preview- Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters

Got the demo version of Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters and it has truly shocked me at just how great it is. The demo has three playable levels and every level was outstanding. It's obvious that this game didn't cut any corners in the transition to the smaller PSP screen. If you want to take a look at my preview on Mobile Tech Review, click on the logo and you'll be magically transported there. Okay it's not magic, but it sounded cool.

Dracula X: Rondo of Blood Coming to PSP

Yep, you hear right. Konami is bringing the classic PC Engine Super CD game Dracula X: Rondo of Blood to the PSP complete with an all-new polygon graphics update to give it that silky smooth look and some remixed tunes to go with it. There's also going to be all-new cutscenes that look amazing. As if that weren't enough, Konami is also going to include the original PC Engine version of the game on the UMD disc as well as a widescreen version of Symphony of the Night. It's Christmas all over again and a welcome announcement for all of us PSP owners who've been salivating at the thought of a 2-D Castlevania game on the PSP screen. It's coming! Final Fantasy VI - Gameboy Advance

Who could ever forget one of the best RPGs to ever grace a console. Final Fantasy VI Advance, or Final Fantasy 3 as it was titled on the Super NES, is coming to the GameBoy Advance system in 6, count em', 6 days. Final Fantasy VI is a title that's considered one of the greatest RPGs ever made and Square has even taken the liberty of sprucing it up a bit. I'm thrilled that Square has re-released all of the early Final Fantasy game but this is the one that's the best of the best. If you're an RPG fan, February 6th is your day. I'll be there when Gamestop opens. Click on the logo to visit the Final Fantasy III SNES review.
